We had the pleasure of returning to the W’s home to capture some holiday moments with this sweet family.

You may remember baby Veronica, though she’s grown quite a bit since we last saw her. This time she was able to wiggle and squirm her way out of photos, so we had to be quick on our feet and owe many of her smiles to a handy little squeak toy. Thanks again to the W family – we were honored to be invited for a repeat photo session, and we hope you all like the results as much as we do.

Thanksgiving at Dad’s has been a tradition for almost ten years. Autumn and I haven’t gone every year, but we do try to make it when we can.

Usually it’s a festive occasion with our extended family from Ohio, but this year it was just the four of us, three cats, and a dog.

Autumn and I drove up on Tuesday. Other than spending time with Dad and Sharon, there are two parts of going to Dad’s that we both enjoy: happy hour at Calhoun’s and the drive though the Smoky Mountain National Park. The latter was especially cool when we were on the motorcycle, and the former was especially cool when we weren’t on the motorcycle. You know, so we could drink the beers that their partner, the Smoky Mountain Brewery, brews. I particularly like the Appalachian Pale Ale. Anyway, during happy hour, the beers are $2. Need I say more?

Spending time with Dad and Sharon is always the highlight of the trip. We drink, eat, and listen to Dad’s stories. I’m the only liberal in the family, so they listen to my weird political points of view, and we drink more. It’s always a great time. We also get to hang with the cats: Bill Bailey (who reminds me of my boy Apollo), Pearl (named after some basketball coach), and little Puke. The latter is a relatively new addition, and I’m trying to get Autumn to let us adopt her. Help me talk her into it, won’t you?

Each of us helped with the turkey day preparation: Dad cooked the turkey on his Big Green Egg; Autumn made her requisite green bean casserole, but with Brussels sprouts (yum!) and an awesome cranberry sauce; I made the stuffing; and Sharon made everything else. It was all pretty damn tasty. And of course I had the camera out a bit. Here are some highlights.

Thanks, again, to Dad and Sharon. We always have such a great time with you guys. I know Autumn is easy to hang out with, but I’m always a challenge. Thanks for asking us back.

On a beautiful October day we met with Brenda and her grandkids, all gathered together for a family visit and a trip to the Georgia National Fair. While the weather was warm and the sunshine plentiful, a hint of fall lingered in the air.

We took advantage of the nice day and explored the lovely Macon State College campus, snapping away while the kids frolicked in the grass and fed geese by the pond. We enjoyed the evening and hope the pictures prove it!

It’s always nice to get away to the mountains, even if it’s only for a couple of days.

Whenever we can, Autumn and I take 441 north through Georgia, western North Carolina, the Smoky Mountains National Park, and into Tennessee to visit Dad and Sharon. Good food, photographic opportunities, and family await. This time was no exception.

Our first day had us lounging around their house, which I call a “cabin,” though it’s really not. I guess a cabin in the mountains sounds better than a house in the mountains. Whatever it is, it sits atop a small mountain just off Wears Valley Road outside of Pigeon Forge, TN. It’s within ten miles of the park, so the location pretty ideal. So today, we just hung out. Here’s proof.

The cat’s name is Bill Bailey. He’s twenty pounds of furry love, and he’s Apollo’s mountain twin – almost.

Hopefully, tomorrow will bring some more photos. I did bring the strobes and stands, so maybe we’ll get Dad and Sharon to pose.

On Sunday afternoon we met up with Jackie and Frank and their cute little boy, CJ. The last time we saw this couple, they had just learned that CJ would be joining their family, and now he’s almost 6 months old! Time flies, and we were happy that they asked us to take their first family photos.

After catching up over lunch, we enjoyed the nice weather in Washington Park and captured a few great moments with this sweet family of three.

Autumn sez:

Happy fiftieth anniversary to Angela and Thomas! We celebrated the occasion with a surprise party, their family, and their friends on Saturday, November 13, 2010 – just a few days shy of their actual 50th. Here’s to wishing them many more years of happiness.

P.S. No one could ask for a better aunt & uncle!

Today is Tripp’s first birthday, and Autumn and I had the honor of spending some time with him and his family over the weekend: first for his party, then for a photo session.

I think we were able to capture his mood on both days. At his party, he was the star – the center of attention for twenty people. At the session, he was more interested in being outside than posing, but we were still able to capture some great moments, like the one above.

Happy birthday, Tripp! Many happy returns. See more shots in Tripp’s one-year gallery.

Autumn and I always love visiting Dad and Sharon; we always eat well, drink well, have great conversations, and generally relaxing days. This shot was from my last visit with Dad. It was only he and I for a couple of days, so we were able to get some good father-son time in. I even helped by shooting a wedding for him.
